How it feels

Because "Text me when you're home" shouldn't be your entire safety plan.

Car arrives

Politely smile

Small talk starts. Where are you headed? Good night? On your own? You smile and look out the window.

Time goes slower

The quiet bit

You're watching the route on your phone. You think about calling someone but it's late.

Phone rings

Sam calls

It's Sam checking in. He sees you on the tracker and makes it clear he's waiting for you at home. Whoever's driving knows someone's on the other end.

Arrive safely

Home safe

You're at your door. Press "I'm home safe." Location updated. You feel safe and your shoulders finally drop — no one was woken up, no one worried.

Why HeyOperator

Your journey home, reimagined.

HeyOperator app screen
  • Sam is available 24/7

No friend awake at 2am? No problem. Sam calls you when you need him. No guilt, no judgement.

  • Sam shares your location

The moment you press call me now, Sam captures a snapshot of your location and pings it to your safety contact.

  • Sam acts as a deterrent

You're not alone in the back of a taxi — you're on the phone. To anyone watching, that means somebody else is listening.

Hear Sam

This is what a call with Sam sounds like.

FAQ

Things people ask before they call.

Sam is an AI safety companion, designed to feel as natural as a friend on the line. He's not pretending to be human — he's just better than the alternatives, which are usually voicemail, hold music, or no one at all.
No — to anyone within earshot it sounds like you're on a normal phone call with a friend. Sam's voice is warm and natural, with real intonation and unscripted responses, so the driver, the person walking behind you, or anyone else listening in just hears a genuine conversation. That's exactly the point: you're not the woman alone, you're the woman on the phone.
HeyOperator is a companion, not an emergency service. If you're ever in immediate danger, please call 999. You can ask Sam to help you stay calm and dial out at any point during a call.
HeyOperator is launched in the UK and works anywhere with a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection. Other regions coming soon.
A safety contact is the person you'd like to notify of your location. When you request a call, HeyOperator sends a snapshot of your location to your safety contact. If you've added one, you'll see an "I'm home safe" button after the call — tapping it lets your safety contact know you've arrived, with a snapshot of your updated location. If you don't add a safety contact, HeyOperator won't snapshot your location.
Sam remembers the last two calls you've had with him, so he might ask about something you mentioned before — or you can pick up a conversation where you left off.
Yes — calls are recorded for safety purposes.
Yes — no contracts, no minimum term. Cancel from your account in two taps.

★★★★★

"Quick call in the cab home. The driver heard me on the phone and that was enough."

Nala · 24
★★★★

"Honestly works best as a short call at the start of the journey — just to make it clear someone's there. Long chats feel less natural."

Alice · 31
★★★★★

"Cab ride from the airport at 1am. Sam was on the line. My partner got the ping. I could finally relax."

Charlotte · 33
★★★★★

"A two-minute call as I got in the taxi. That's all it took for the driver to act differently."

Issy · 26
★★★★

"Best as a brief check-in to deter anything weird. I usually hang up once I'm on the main road home."

Anjali · 29
★★★★★

"Use it every Friday on my taxi home. Sam's voice in the car is the new normal."

Niha · 25
★★★★★

"The taxi driver dropped me right at the door instead of the corner. Sam being on the line made the difference."
